Saint Tropez
The town of Saint Tropez located in the southeast corner of France, on the French Riviera, is in heart of the Esterel and the Massif des Maures region.
Known all over the globe as a fashionable beach resort and a picturesque fishing port, it has managed to preserve its wilderness and rustic nature as a seaport town despite the influx of attention and travelers.
Set against the clear azure waters of the Mediterranean, the town was first made famous by film stars in the 1960’ who made the medieval village a timeless classic.
Today, yachts line up along the quai, viewable from one of the many terrace cafes that dot the shores on the boardwalk.
East of the town, the Plage des Graniers is in a little cove past the cemetery, a long walk or a short drive away. While, further east, out the route des Salins, is the Plage des Cannebiers. The cape beaches on the east of St Tropez are the Plage de la Moutte and Plage des Salins. Further along are the most breathtaking collection of beaches along the Baie de Pampelonne, located south of St Tropez and east of Ramatuelle.
Behind the beachfront area are smaller streets of St Tropez are rennaisance buildings that mingle both the historical with the commercial, serving as heritage-in-motion as present day shops, restaurants and bars.
The Place aux Herbes is a lively town square, serving as the center of Saint Tropez public life for centuries.
Located one street behind the Quai Jean Jaures, past the Office de Tourisme, there are a host of small market stalls which sell fresh local produce such as fruit, vegetables and famed wines.
Since the area is known for the Côte de Provence wines, guests are enjoined to troop over to the countryside around St Tropez and nearby Gassin, to walk through the rows of vine and sample the local fare.
