Cannes

Located to the east of the French Riviera, the seaside town of Cannes is an important and fashionable resort in La Napoula bay.

Fronting the Mediterranean Seas has made this locale the perfect landscape for an annual international film festival, which attracts the most glamorous jet-setting crowd to its shores each spring. The foreign films that are part of the festival are screened at the Palais des Festivales by reknown cinema greats.

Other numerous international shows, trade fairs and exhibitions take place in Cannes, as well as international regattas throughout the year.

On the top of the hill behind the town are a Roman Catholic and a Protestant cemetery, the most prominent part of which are the graves of Lord Brougham, distinguished by a massive stone cross, and James, the fourth duke of Montrose, who died in 1874.
Two islands close to Cannes that invite guests are the Ste Honorat which houses a monastery and castle ruins castle, as well as the Ste Marguerite which welcomes travellers to explore and swim in its rocky coves, climb its castle-fort as well as enjoy leisurely strolls in its bars and shops.
